Deep world building, intelligent dialogue, epic set pieces worthy of Hollywood, expert acting, detailed plots, genuine surprises, a great soundtrack used sparingly. GoT is worth watching for these seasons, absolutely.

Season 8: This fall falls deeper than you might think

Season 7: You suddenly feel like the writing and plotting have taken a sharp dip in quality. There are inexplicable ideas, inconsistent characterizations, and soap opera drama. But at least the entertainment value is still very high, so it’s forgiven. The writing has become so amateurish that the fantastic production values ​​are still not enough to save it. If you ever enjoyed Lost but were surprised by how bad the final season was, you’re on familiar ground here.

Fatal for fiction

The biggest problem with the final season is that it takes us out of the story and makes us think about its many weaknesses. Our suspension of disbelief is gone. It ruined the series-arc to the point where it was pointless to rewatch the entire series. So can I recommend a GoT marathon for newbies? Yes, the first 6 seasons are worth the disappointment.
